An alternating pressure mattress pad should be used for patients who are likely to spend more than 15 hours per day in bed or who are classified as medium to high risk of developing pressure ulcers, or bedsores.

People at higher risk are typically:
- seriously ill
- immobile
- have spinal cord injury
- wear prosthesis
- are incontinent of stool or urine
- has diabetes
- has COPD or heart failure
- has Alzheimer’s
- has Parkinson’s Disease
- has heart failure
- has a broken hip or have had a recent hip surgery and more

The alternating air pressure mattress uses the distribution of air that cycles between cells to stimulate blood flow and distribute weight off pressure points.

The dial knob on the pressure pump can be easily adjusted to meet your pressure preference. Just turn towards the “+” sign for higher pressure and turn towards the “-” for lower pressure.
